Have you seen this face at a PADI event? This is Eric Albinsson, PADI’s Instructor Development Programs Specialist. Did you know that in 2006 he completed his Instructor Development Course at Purple Vibe!! We recently caught up with Eric to ask how he remembers his time with Purple Vibe.
When asked why he chose Purple Vibe, 11 years ago, to do his IDC, Eric said “it was the integration of additional programs beyond the IDC and regular specialties. I liked the business marketing program. But the clincher was the job placement services.”
After his IDC, Eric found work in the Gold Coast (Australia) and worked with over 1600 DSDs in the first year alone! From there he moved to Beirut to assist a new dive center in the Mediterranean to teach all levels up to Rescue Diver and many specialties. There he was able to put many of the tips and techniques learned in Purple Vibe’s resort training and business marketing programs to use in order to help this young dive center grow.
After 2 years in Lebanon, he moved to Scotland where he focuses on developing his wreck and cold water dive skills. It was here, where they had an excellent Instructor Development program, that he began to staff IDCs. From there he moved to Florida, to a busy IDC center where he was staffing an IDC every other month. From there he discovered DEMA, the PADI Business Academy, and eventually, attended a Course Director Training Course! After becoming a Course Director, Eric joined the PADI staff and continues to mentor Instructors at all levels in their PADI careers.
We are so proud of Eric and all that he has accomplished. And especially proud that Eric credits Purple Vibe with giving him “the insight to look for a career path and always have a goal in mind from specific marketing plans to broader business plans.”
